The website I developed for the Rotorua Society of Model Engineers (now the Cambridge-Rotorua Live Steamers - www.crls.org.nz) has been voted Best Miniature Railway Website of New Zealand by Kiro; the person engaged to market the Kapiti Miniature Railway.
To quote from his email report...
Which Miniature Railway Club has the best web site???
I looked at more than 50 aspects that can define a good web site and gave 'points' for them for each club.
There are 5 categories:
- Design: The better a site looks, the more serious a club gets taken.
- Search engines: A nice looking site isn't worth much when search engines don't give it a high ranking.
- Up-to-date info/news. How serious is a club when there is just a few and/or old information on the site?
- Contact / location info: The easier a potential customer can get in contact the better.
- Extra info: What does certain club have on their site that other clubs don't have? Videos, newsletters, links etc.
If awards would be given for 2010, the following clubs would be winners in each category:
- Design: Rotorua
- Search Engines: Manukau
- Up-To-Date info/news: Whangarei
- Contact / location: Havelock North
- Extra info: Hamilton
When I combine all the 5 categories you will have the winner of the Best Web Site for Miniature Railway in New Zealand of 2010.
And the winner is..........
ROTORUA!!!!
Congratulations to Rotorua!!!
kind regards,
Kiro
